Art History is the History of Ideas.

As Ardalan Curator of Modern & Contemporary Projects at the National Gallery, London, I relate the historical collection to contemporary art and culture through exhibitions, commissions, residencies, research and interpretation.

I am currently working on Jeremy Deller’s Triumph of Art (2025) and on a new commission by Richard Long (2025).

Recent projects include Lucian Freud: New Perspectives (2022); Messengers: A New Work by Bridget Riley (2019) and Rachel Maclean: The Lion and The Unicorn (2018). Previous exhibitions at the Whitechapel Gallery include Eduardo Paolozzi (2017); The London Open (2015); and Hannah Höch (2014).
